Does he have permits for the demolition work?

I can't really speak to the Washington DC planning and construction laws but just cannot see him doing the required paperwork to start a project like this.

I think he also can't legally demolish part of what is, after all, a national possession with no authorization or budget viva la Oct 2025 #1

But what does he care. He just does what he wants, and no one stops him.

This demolition-- maybe some "conservatives" will say, uh, that's, you know, 200 years old!

He's doing the most damage to the White House since the British burned it down.

Also he’s gone bankrupt more than half a dozen times — using other people’s money.

None of what he is doing at this point is legal as far as I can tell. But another lifelong pattern is to simply laugh or sneer and dare anyone to stop him. He has no shame, none.

Why does this work for Donald Trump? When it comes down to it, I have no idea. He is not a normal person.

think he's really doing anything illegal. The man operates within the loopholes of the law. Many lines have never been drawn because no one ever expected anyone to cross them.
It's like floating in a life raft while watching your own boat sink and slip below the water and there isn't a damned thing you can do about it other than stare in disbelief.

The first incarnation of the current National Capital Planning Commission was established in 1924 and in 1952 the National Capital Planning Act was passed, formally designating the Commission as the central planning agency for the federal government and the District of Columbia, and giving it its current name. Sounds like they are in charge to me.

The National Capital Planning Commission, which is currently closed by the shutdown, is obviously an unacceptable impediment for the Great Developer, so in July all the commissioners were replaced with his hand-picked choices and in September the new NCPC Chair, Will Scharf, stated that the commission lacked jurisdiction over demolition and site preparation for a planned new ballroom at the White House.

So yeah you're right. His personally chosen commissioners have decided that the last 100 years of law precedence were in error and abandoned their authority. He's legally destroying our White House right in front of our eyes.

have reviewed the plans to determine if the building was an historical landmark.

And of course, he waited while there was a government shutdown.

This man is like a red hot knife that is searing through everything traditional that was good about our country.

In my area, you can make updates and changes, but in the same construction manner as the original.

I doubt he minds throwing away your money or mine.

I guess when scotus confirms him as president for life, that might change.
