Things like individual liberty, separation of church and state, representative democracy, the dignity and equality of all humans.

By replacing it with a gilded ballroom, Trump is destroying these woke values and replacing it with a 16th century absolute monarchy.

11. MAGAs have already justified it: The White House has undergone

several alterations over time, and this is just another one. Also, the main body of the White House itself was built in only the early 1950s (which is true)...MAGAs like to trot that one out a lot.

Nevertheless, a partial demolition and alternation on this scale normally requires authorization outside of the President. That, and the optics of this action are just dreadful.
