McIver: 'I'm Not Going to Stop Holding This Administration Accountable'

Today, a federal court in Newark, New Jersey, heard oral arguments in the ongoing criminal case against Congresswoman LaMonica McIver (NJ-10) brought by the Trump administration. The court reserved ruling on the Congresswomans motions to dismiss, but instructed the government to take down certain public statements negatively describing Rep. McIver, and to provide additional discovery, such as video footage and government policies. A spokesperson for the Congresswoman issued the following statement on todays oral arguments:
Todays oral arguments were a pivotal step in exposing the methods by which Donald Trumps government is targeting LaMonica McIver to punish her for doing oversight and standing up to protect her community. Rep. McIvers lawyers laid out the basis for the court to dismiss the case based on two motionsone on Selective Enforcement and Prosecution and Vindictive Prosecution, and the other on Legislative Immunity. The judge did not rule on either of these motions from the bench, but announced he would issue a written opinion. While he did not rule formally on the other two motions to compel discovery and to restrain DHS and ICE from making false and defamatory statements about the Congresswoman, the court did instruct the U.S. Attorneys office to provide additional discovery relevant to the case and take down certain public statements negatively describing Rep.
