in a non-violent manner.
Does the MSM care???

(15,593 posts)The GOP Congress is "perfectly" happy to collect their pay and perks while people are starving or dying from lack of access to health care or shelter.
All these perfect Christians truly believe 90% of the American people need assistance or are poor from poor choices, and they all need to have their "foolish" ideas about freedom and independence from the proper order of things beaten out of them.
The rarely spoken feeling is that the American general population are either stupid or criminals, and really don't deserve anything they can't pay for.

(26,593 posts)They have no money to give. They are writing exception letters. Eventually companies can only be so leveraged. Once that point hits, furloughs occur. The longer it goes, the more furloughs occur.

(24,055 posts)Either the Dems will cave and the shutdown will end, or they will stay the course, the subsidies will expire and the republicans will cave.
It will be over by the new year, probably sooner.

(38,109 posts)We don't have a functional House of Representatives.
Article 1, Section 5
Neither House, during the Session of Congress, shall, without the Consent of the other, adjourn for more than three days, nor to any other Place than that in which the two Houses shall be sitting.
Unfortunately, there's no mechanism for the American people to call it a failed government and hold a new election.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
