U.S. strikes 8th alleged drug vessel, this time on the Pacific side, killing 2 on board

By Eleanor Watson
Updated on: October 22, 2025 / 2:55 PM EDT / CBS News

The U.S. struck another alleged drug vessel Tuesday night, this time on the Pacific side of South America, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth confirmed Wednesday.

In what is the eighth known U.S. attack on a boat since Sept. 2, two individuals aboard the vessel were killed, Hegseth said. The other seven strikes targeted vessels in the Caribbean. A defense official confirmed the vessel was in international waters off of Colombia.

Hegseth wrote on social media that the Defense Department conducted the strike at President Trump's direction and alleged the vessel was operated by a "designated terrorist organization and conducting narco-trafficking in the Eastern Pacific."

He continued: "The vessel was known by our intelligence to be involved in illicit narcotics smuggling, was transiting along a known narco-trafficking transit route, and carrying narcotics. There were two narco-terrorists aboard the vessel during the strike, which was conducted in international waters."

Rand Paul: There is no fentanyl made in Venezuela. Not just a little bit, there's none being made... These are outboard boats that, in order for them to get to Miami, would have to stop and refuel 20 times... We don't just summarily execute people.

… waters of the Pacific Ocean too. If “they” knew it was a boat transporting drugs the Coast Guard
could have easily stopped it and searched it when it came into U.S. waters. And BTW even if
it was transporting drugs some of the people on it and the other boats might not have been doing
it … transporting the drugs … but because they were forced into it by drug gangs. “Hi here is a picture of
of your home and family it would be a shame if anything would happen to them. Just like Jeffery
Epstein did to Virginia Giuffre in showing her a picture of her brother.

These attacks are to keep people from seeing the evidence Trump was an active part of an international child sex trafficking operation that included Musk and Putin.

God Damn it this was murder by a mad man.

does the military that carried out the strikes? Can they be held accountable for carrying out illegal orders to commit murder?

The commanders who gave the order and service members to followed them are guilty of murder.

Obedience of orders is no defense and there is no statute of limitations. There should be a payday someday.

An unlawful order is one that requires the commission of a criminal act or violates the Constitution, U.S. federal law, or applicable international law.

Examples of Unlawful Orders:

- Targeting or intentionally harming civilians
- Torturing or abusing detainees
- Falsifying operational or legal records
- Engaging in unauthorized political or domestic law enforcement actions

As Mr. Sheldon posted

All military orders are presumed lawful. The burden falls on the service member to establish that an order is manifestly unlawful. This is a high standard, and hesitation or refusal can carry serious consequences—even if ultimately justified.

Disagreement with the nature of a mobilization does not excuse disobedience. A soldier cannot safely refuse an order to report of duty.

People watch too many movies, they think it's a bunch of random people from small villages making and trafficking drugs. The cartels are run like any other multi billion multi national corporation, they are high tech, they have accountants and risk assessors. The have ships, they don't need small fishing boats. Their drugs get here by shipping container, by air freight, or by train. They don't need some poor fishing boat operators to transport $millions in drugs. These fishing boats obviously have nothing to do with the drug trade, they aren't suited to travel long enough distances.

This administration isn't going to actually go after the the drugs is a significant way as the cartels are campaign donors.
