When one nice lady is warning people that EBT benefits will end at the end of this month if the government shutdown isnt over, they snicker and say Time to go get a job.
I really should stay off that site. I get too angry.

(2,560 posts)I've always been under the impression that posters on those platforms are supposed to stay away from hot-button controversial political discussions. In fact, the NextDoor where I live and occasionally post has deleted those posts sometimes.

(40,540 posts)I guess you could argue over whether the information about EBT benefits possibly ending at the end of the month is political or just helpful information. But there are certain people who always have to answer with snark.

Maybe the "nice" lady was just stirring up shit

(422 posts)But I ditched it a while back because people on it were mostly really mean and it made me angry too. Maybe thats the nature of social media in general. People are ensconced in their houses behind a keyboard, so they feel okay about being mean and callous to others. I never saw a lot of real genuine empathy on any social media (facebook, twitter, Nextdoor, threads, instagram) either.
