There will only be destruction. He's incompetent and everyone he hires is incompetent. What if a storm moves in tonight and there are no walls or roof? What will this destruction do to the rest of the building? There is no plan. A ballroom is just an excuse for the destruction. And the wreckage of the East Wing will become the excuse for demolishing the remainder of the building.

(2,097 posts)I agree, there is something afoot about this whole ballroom shit. We're barely a functioning country right now, and it seems like it's all about to come crashing down with these goofballs in charge.

He is destroying every lever of power we have to promote values of global citizenship at home and abroad. He and his regime are systematically destroying every mechanism by which the will of the American people is accurately measured and implemented. He is abusing the raw power of the American presidency to extort and coerce and to wreak havoc and exact vengeance on any person or nation he perceives as a competitor or opponent.
I suspect the whole notion of America as a beacon of hope -- a "shining city on a hill" -- turns his stomach. And the White House is a powerful symbol of that "shining city." Of course destroying it is in the mix. It is the symbol of that which he hates.
I don't know what psychology is driving this (beyond being a malignant narcissistic psychopath), but I think it has to do with the NY-DC corridor powerbrokers who never really invited him in -- with many of them ridiculing him as trashy, greedy, and uncouth. Perhaps many of those who rejected him embraced the values of global citizenship, and thus those values became the object of his hatred.
Who the fuck knows.
All I know is that destroying the physical structure of the White House seems completely consistent with all his other sabotage.

He wants a monument, and to make money.
His name will be somewhere in large letters

(90,319 posts)Makes me wonder: if what he has in mind isnt finished by the time this term ends, is THAT part of the rationale hell use to try to stay in the White House? Will THAT be one of his excuses?

1) The Canadians during the War of 1812?
2) The current President.

(8,033 posts)Trump is looking for the secret entrance to the underground bunker, where Antifa, Obama, Harris and the ghost of Jimmy Carter are steering the anti-Trump Revolution.
If he can't find it there, the rest of the WH will come down too.
Trump will say . . . Look at what you made me do!
