A new University of New Hampshire poll in Maine finds Graham Platner (D) leads Gov. Janet Mills (D) in the Democratic race for the U.S. Senate nomination, 58% to 24%.
Platners lead is fueled by self-described socialists and progressives along with young people

(49,019 posts)I don't live in his state so my liking him as a person has nothing to do with him getting elected. And if I did live there I would want a younger person to run.I would say he's too old to run for office

(10,436 posts)The past decade has been quite lucrative for the 84-year-old Mr. Sanders...

(49,019 posts)because I respect Bernie Sanders more than I have ever respected any other politician in my entire life.

(10,436 posts)...what leads you to respect him more than any other politician in your life, all the while you try to chase out younger/similarly aged politicians that have accomplished much more for progressive causes during their political careers?

A couple of years of Mills may work better for Maine than 6 of the the guy who went along with the weird tattoo stuff.

(1,921 posts)first, the Nazi tattoo on his chest that Bernie inexplicably dismissed and now it comes out that he posted anti-gay slurs on social media, which he's already admitted to. To say he's 'flawed' would be an understatement. Fossil Collins is gonna skate through again. To say she leads a charmed life is a vast understatement. Hate her shrewish face.
jaymac
(267 posts)Many, many Mainers already have decided against her. Collins, no matter her age or her "supposed" experience helped her recognize the lies Brett Kavanaugh told in his confirmation hearing. She is a shill, bought and paid for. Platner is more than a callow youth who only farms oysters. He has the big MO........as far as the Fetterman comparison. I'd be willing to bet real cash, Platner will wear a suit when he serves and not shorts and a sweatshirt.

I would be much more instructive to see a poll taken after all these revelations about Platner.

(60,430 posts)Id be more interested in a poll dated yesterday, and taken from a broad spectrum of Maines voters. A poll of Texas first graders asking what percentage of them support ice cream for lunch is not indicative of the population as a whole.
