It's not the only copy. An old 20/20 episode I saw portions of clearly shows a prosecutor had a copy.
They were showing photocopies of parts of the files, and clearly said that Trump was listed in the documents, showing his involvement. I only saw some of it because I fell asleep (and only caught it partway through). I believe the prosecutor was in NYC, so somewhere there is a complete copy of the files not under Trumps control.
In fact, I wonder if this isn't part of why he's going after Letitia James. I'd bet she's seen these documents and knows exactly where they are stored. Someone should get them before Trump has them removed and destroyed.
(I've looked and it may be an episode from summer of 2020, a two hour one about Epstein and Maxwell.)
