A Modest Proposal for Full Funding of the United States Military

I propose that, at least two hours per day, each enlisted member and officer would be posted in a public place where foot traffic is generally moderate or busy. Each member will be in full uniform and will carry a special ceramic cup with the words,

"SUPPORT YOUR ARMED FORCES! SPARE CHANGE WANTED!

With a two-hour per day effort by every enlisted member and officer, they could post someone at every busy corner across the nation. Of course, all good Americans would chip in regularly and generously. There are roughly 1.32 Million active-duty personnel available for this task. They would literally rake in the bucks, no doubt.

Doesn't that sound like a great way to pay our troops? They can beg for their pay!

I think this should be implemented immediately!

Constitutional amendment that not a penny is spent on the military, nor on the military contractors, until every last public support program, SNAP, WIC, Medicaid, CHIP, SSI, TANF, Section 8, IHS, etc. are fully funded for the fiscal year.
