Trump will use the same game plan as Iran. They will fly into the interior and bomb some random “ranchito” and congratulate themselves on their “win.”

They could be right.

A bit of a geography lesson. The Andes mountains rise straight out of the Caribbean Sea near Caracas, the Capital.

Caracas is completely surrounded by mountains. One, El Avila, is 7,000 ft above sea level. Caracas lies in a 7 mile valley about 3200 ft above sea level. The four lane highway from the Simon Bolivar Airport to Caracas passes through two tunnels - one about 6200 ft long and the other about 1600 ft, if memory serves. The road climbs 3,000 plus feet in 22 miles.

Now Maracaibo in Western Venezuela sits on Lake Maracaibo which is an estuary that empties into the Gulf of Venezuela. Lake Maracaibo is now a hell hole of old, abandoned leaking oil and gas wells. Not a good place to bomb.

Eastern Venezuela has its own unique geography. Here you have massive salt flats from the Orinoco River Delta. Eastern Venezuela is home to “sweet, light crude,” large oil refineries, and natural gas wells in addition to uranium and gold fields.

South of there you have the Orinoco Heavy Crude belt along the river. South of there is the Grand Savannah and Brazil.

Venezuela has 2 seasons - wet and dry. It is the dry season now - no rain will fall until May. Red dust everywhere.

Long story short, old Whiskey Hegseth has his work cut out for him.

If we get involved in a war there, China will likely invade Taiwan as we will be in another boondoggle. And Russia will no doubt finally go full bore in Ukraine.

And of course, the OAS will condemn our actions and start aiding Venezuela. This is not something we want to get involved in. Bush, Obama and Biden all knew this is something you just have to let run its course. Any action will not be fruitful.
