For years, I was an election judge (what poll workers are called in my state) in a precinct where I did not live.

As an election judge, you are not allowed to leave the polling place where you're working for the entire time the polls are open. If I wanted to vote at all, I HAD to do it early.

I'm so used to voting early now that I hardly ever wait till election day. I love it, because it's never crowded, and you can get in, vote, and get out in no time.

If early voting and mail in voting are both eliminated, the lines for voting in major elections would be so long on election day that a lot of people wouldn't be able to vote at all. No one wants to wait in line for hours, and no one should have to.
