President Donald Trump has ramped up pressure on Republican governors to draw up new maps in an attempt to give the party an easier path to maintain control of the House in the midterms. While Republicans in Texas and Missouri have moved quickly to enact a new set of districts and California Democrats are seeking to counter with their own redistricting plan, Indiana lawmakers have been far more hesitant to the idea and held weeks of discussion on the topic.
Braun is calling for the General Assembly to convene Nov. 3.
Its unclear whether enough of the GOP majority Senate will back new maps.

Lets say you have 6 districts that are Rx12 and r that are D+ 8 to start. You gerrymander things, ending with 8 districts that are R+6 and 2 that are D + 12.
That looks like a gain of 2 R seats. However, in a midterm where things swing to D+7 let's say (which isn't all that rare) you could see several of those seats fall that otherwise would have been safe.

He won 53-48 - but the closest race in the state won by a republican was by almost 20 points... and the two neighboring districts were by 28 and 34 points.
