Trump Says a Recent M.R.I. Scan Was ‘Perfect,’ and He’d ‘Love’ a Third Term
President Trump made the comments on the second day of his trip to Asia. The Constitution limits presidents to two terms, but Mr. Trump has suggested he might try to circumvent it.

President Trump said that he underwent magnetic resonance imaging earlier this month, telling reporters aboard Air Force One on Monday that the results had been “perfect” but declining to say why his doctors had ordered the scan.

Mr. Trump also reiterated that he was interested in serving a third term, saying that he “would love to do it” because of his popularity with his supporters. Mr. Trump, who spoke to journalists for about 30 minutes on a flight to Tokyo from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, during his almost weeklong trip to Asia, seemed intent on presenting himself as fit to lead, if not run for the presidency again.

The Constitution sets a two-term limit for presidents, but Mr. Trump and his supporters have increasingly floated the possibility of finding a way to circumvent the 22nd Amendment, which states that “no person shall be elected to the office of the president more than twice,” regardless of whether the terms are consecutive.

In discussing his health, Mr. Trump offered a small new detail about the tests that the White House physician, Dr. Sean P. Barbabella, said the president had received during a recent visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

“I gave you the full results,” Mr. Trump said, mischaracterizing the summary that was released by his physician. The summary did not say that Mr. Trump had an M.R.I. scan and had few details on what testing the president had undergone. When asked why he had undergone an M.R.I., the president said, “you could ask the doctors.” Magnetic resonance imaging, a noninvasive technology that creates detailed images of the inside of the body, is often used for disease detection and monitoring, or to detect bone or joint abnormalities.

Last week, Stephen K. Bannon, Mr. Trump’s former strategist, said that he was part of “a plan” to help the president get elected to a third term.

“Trump is going to be president in ’28, and people ought to just get accommodated with that,” he said.

They aren’t about to rule that 2=3

Their loyalty is to their ideology, not to Trump the man. He will be discarded at the end of this term.

If he thinks he could win a third term he should have his head examined.

SCOTUS is loyal to their ideology, not Trump the man. They aren’t about to permanently relinquish their authority by ruling that 2=3.

These are the facts that will unfold:

Trump will not be on any state’s ballot for 2028, primary or general

Trump will not be the 2028 republican nominee (remember, there are dozens of Republicans waiting in the wings for their shot)

States will hold elections as scheduled, and send their slates of electors to congress

On January 20, 2029, a new president and VP, neither named Trump, will be inaugurated.

If for some reason, congress fails to perform its duty of certification of EV’s, an acting president will be sworn from the line of succession, starting with the speaker.

The only thing that can prevent these facts from unfolding as described above is a successful military coup, which would require thousand of service members to commit multiple acts of treason, without opposition from the rest of the military, congress or the people.

Just because Trump, or anyone else, imagines something and types it on the internet, doesn’t make that thing plausible, possible or probable, let alone inevitable.

He croaks first.

It’s 2029 where he won’t be POTUS except for the first 21 days.

as one would expect in a truly health democracy that teaches critical thinking skills and science literacy, could have continued to press him on details piecemeal without seeming disrespectful.

Why did you have an MRI when it isn't routine?

Did they do your entire body?

Were there any special instructions?

How long did you have to fast beforehand?

How long did it take?

What were they looking for in particular?

Were the results in full color or monochrome?

Was it the first one you've ever had?

How long until the results were in?

Not all of those questions are applicable to MRI. There would have been any number of chances to catch him lying about some aspect of it or revealing his general ignorance.
