President Donald Trump blamed his past feud with Tesla CEO Elon Musk on the billionaire having a “stupid moment in his life," calling it a “bad moment” for the Trump ally that had once poured hundreds of millions of dollars into his 2024 campaign.
The two engaged in a messy public spat that began with Musk’s criticism of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act in May, stepping down from his role as a special government employee just days later. The feud ramped up in July after Musk accused Trump of being in the files related to Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted child sex abuser who died in 2019 awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges.
Musk, who would later admit to appearing in the Epstein files himself, ultimately reunited with Trump during the memorial last month for the slain right-wing influencer Charlie Kirk, with the two of them spotted during the event shaking hands and chatting.

“Look, he’s a nice guy and he’s a very capable guy. I’ve always liked him,” Trump said. “He had a bad spell, he had a bad period, he had a bad moment, it was a stupid moment in his life, very stupid, I’m sure he’d tell you that. But I like Elon and I suspect I’ll always like him.”
