Republican logic?

Obama painted over the lines on the tennis court at the White House and put up a basketball goal. Republicans use that example when excusing Donald Trump for tearing down the entire East Wing of the White House. They point out that Democrats said nothing when Obama was putting up the basketball goal. They really do not see the difference.

It's that they've blinded themselves with complete subjugation to Trump's every act and/or whim. He does something dreadful and they run out with the excuse signs. Because loyalty must be 100%, even if it kills you.

They've chosen the cult over rationality. Even if they wanted to get out, his henchmen in particular, they know what they've done. They're complicit down to their tippy-toes. The only choice now is hanging on.

Instead of hanging for crimes committed.
