ICE puts Cuban Trump "super supporter" in max security prison in Africa after 50 years in the US

ICE Barbie Deports Trump-Fanatic Cuban Immigrant to Africa
https://www.thedailybeast.com/cuban-man-roberto-mosquera-deported-to-africa-revealed-as-super-trump-loyalist/#user-comments

Roberto Mosquera was once a self-proclaimed "super Trump supporter." Now, he’s trapped in a maximum-security prison in Africa after the Department of Homeland Security detained and falsely labeled him a killer.

Mosquera, 59, was taken into custody by ICE agents in South Florida during his annual check-in in June. He moved to the United States nearly 50 years ago from Cuba.

At the time, Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security Tricia McLaughlin wrote on X that Mosquera was “convicted of first-degree murder and aggravated battery.”

Public records show Mosquera was never convicted—or even charged—with homicide. In 1988, when he was 18 years old, Mosquera was charged with attempted murder after shooting a man in the leg. He served a nine-year prison sentence and “rebuilt his life,” according to his lawyer. He’s now a full-time plumber and doting dad to Monica and her 9-year-old sister.

“I asked him, ‘Why did you even support Trump?’” Monica said. “And he was like, ‘He’s the president. Have faith that things are gonna be different and things are gonna change.’”

I know I should feel bad for someone when this happens to them but I really can’t feel sympathy.

he wasn't convicted of murder, but he was convicted of a attempted murder and spent 9 years in prison.

I'm not saying that justifies deportation to Eswatini - but this is not a case of just randomly labeling an innocent person a crimina.

Yeah, things 'changed' all right!

Cuban-Americans should re-examine their support for the Republican party
(long overdue)..... and drop the grudge of their elders
against Democrats and Kennedy for the Bay of Pigs....

Then again, most of the Cubans who were economically capable of coming here
(except for the 'boat people')
were probably very right-wing....

Mosquera:

“He’s the president. Have faith that things are gonna be different and things are gonna change.”

Becomes:
“Fidel Castro’s the president. Have faith that things are gonna be different and things are gonna change.’”

He doesn’t see in Trump what he saw in Castro. How can that be explained?
