Golden, who was the only Democrat to vote for a Republican-backed spending measure to fund the government last month, told The Wall Street Journal that Democrats shouldnt use the shutdown as leverage to advance their health care demands.
Democrats have been urging Republicans to extend the enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies, which are set to expire at the end of this year. Experts have said Americans health insurance premiums could increase if those subsidies are not extended.
But Golden argued Democrats should keep the health care issue separate from reopening the government, noting it was his own colleagues who included a sunset for the subsidies in 2022.

In It to Win It
(12,809 posts)Joe Manchin thought the bill that eventually became the IRA was too expensive. Instead of 10 years of subsidies, they put the expiration on them at 2025 to make the bill less expensive and get Joe Manchin's vote.

(5,075 posts)Having read about it a bit, the reconciliation process demands the bill be offset so not only is he responsible for the subsidies being sunsetted but also a significant pay for which was a tax hike on the very richest bloodsuckers.
Theres always got to be that one guy who shills for the rulers and denies the working class a benefit.
