ME-SEN: Psaki presses Platner on blaming Democrats: Sounds like shirking 'responsibility'

Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki pressed Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner on Tuesday after he claimed the Democratic Party was trying to “destroy” his life.

Platner has faced backlash over reports about past Reddit comments where he labeled police as “bastards,” said white people were racist and accused Black people of not tipping.....

“You’re running as an outsider, for sure, which is probably an advantage for you, but campaigns, I mean, they use opposition research. It can get very ugly, but these were comments you made. As you said, you knew they could come to light — a tattoo on your body,” Psaki told Platner during Tuesday’s episode of MSNBC’s “The Briefing.”

“And when you say the party is trying to destroy your life, it sounds like, a little bit like you’re trying to shirk responsibility for things that you did in comments that you made,” she added.

Indeed, it is shirking responsibility. This is another clue that he's not ready for elected office... QueerDuck Nov 2025 #9

His Youthful Outsider schtick is not the magical panache, stain remover and deodorizer all-in-one he might believe.

I'm sure Hillary Clinton or Barak Obama should be blamed for his Nazi tattoo.

Bernie's word carries weight, but when the boxes checked ideologically are outweighed by serious personal distractions, time to move on - that's what I learned after Bill C., it's the agenda and winning that count, not wasting all of our precious energy and attention to support one person (cult mindset).

although some might argue that this is a key requirement (LOL) the more serious among us would argue that we deserve better.

But, smart as he was, he wasn't experienced on the national stage, and his well-publicized run for President fizzled. He was brutalized by the media, and he freely admits that his campaign wasn't ready to take counter-measures. "We didn't know what the hell we were doing."

He could have just faded back into obscurity, whining that the PTB, fate and the media were stacked up against him. Instead, he ran for the chairmanship of the DNC, got elected, and worked tirelessly for four years straight to bring the Democratic Party back from the depths to win the House, the Senate and the White House THAT's the kind of Democrat we need now. Get out there, meet with everyone, work your ASS off, and don't get mad, get going. When he helped us win the White House, he (and the country!) got cheated out of having him as HHS Secretary, a post that to this day, he would have been more qualified to hold than anyone who has held that position since. But, he didn't whine. I asked him, before the decision was made, what he'd do if he didn't get the nod for HHS, and he said "go out and raise hell for causes I believe in." And so he did. Somehow, I don't see Platner doing anything like that, but if he wants to surprise me, he's more than welcome.
