Cops say Portland protests got worse after the arrival of federal agents.

Federal officers are alleged to have opened fire with pepper balls on a crowd of protesters and cops after their own bungling colleagues accidentally teargassed them.

Portland police commander Franz Schoening testified in court that protests outside the South Portland ICE headquarters had been “mild” in September—but swelled after Donald Trump announced National Guard troops were headed to the city.

He said violence directed at federal officers remained limited, while agents “sometimes used excessive force,” including the Oct. 18 incident during a No Kings protest when ICE officers accidentally fired a canister that bounced onto the roof of the facility, hitting their own colleagues.

This then led to the armed officers on the roof shooting back into the driveway, striking local police and protesters with pepper balls and tear gas of their own, according to Schoening, Reuters reported.

That ended with the Night of the Long Knives, when their brown shirts ran red. Their arrogant oafish brutality was out of date. It had outlived its usefulness to the National Socialist Party, and the more loyal and better organized Secret State Police (Geheime Staatspolizei, or “Gestapo” for short) became a far more efficient state weapon. They gave the Party (Nationalsozialisten, or Nazis for short) the breathing room it needed for its domestic and foreign mayhem. It is frightening how many condemned prisoners after the Nürnberg trials unapologetically said, prior to being hanged, that it was still worth it. We’ll hear the same reactions from Republicans when the Trump nightmare regime is over, and not even one of them will face the gallows, though some probably deserve it.

from what I've read. Disorganized, impulsive, and violent. I hadn't thought of the "drunk" part, but clearly that would fit the scenario as well.

When I watched the attacks on the Capitol on 1/6, it immediately brought to mind Hitler's lowlife brownshirts. They also remind me of a classic lynch mob.

It was NO ACCIDENT, the icehole agent fired the tear gas canister that was meant for the protesters. Instead the canister bounced back on them. So, of course the natural progression is to attack the protesters. Karma played her part.
