I voted early yesterday.

My town has an election for city council and a proposal on Tuesday. I went to the community center and I was the only voter in the room. I couldn't help but contrast that with when I went to vote early in the 2024 presidential election. I tried to go almost every day but the line was so long, all the way down the hall and turned down another hall. I was happy to see that (although I didn't want to wait in a line that long) because I've always thought that a big turnout bodes well for the Democrats. Alas, not so this time, grasshopper.

I ended up going to my regular polling place on election day and I was in and out in five minutes. Just like yesterday.

Even though they are the elections that have the greatest impact on your day-to-day life. At least in the pre Trump era.

In NYC. It was quite lively at 11:00 am. I was in and out in less than ten minutes.

Straight Democratic votes, as always.

The only thing is you sign and date the envelope and then seal your ballot in, then put it in a ballot box. They don't get opened and tabulated until election day. My state hasn't had a problem with votes being tabulated on time but I could see where that might slow things down. So while I have voted, I haven't really voted yet.
