It appears Joyner is following up on investigations that pre-dated Trump.
He was appointed as First assistant U.S. DA by Trump guy, William C. Lamar, and stepped up to acting U.S. DA when Lamar exited in February 2021. Although appointed by a Trump guy, he appears to be a career guy. He served as DA in Tupelo for 11 years, from 1997 until he joined the U.S. Attorney's office in 2008.
So, he's been acting U.S. Attorney since 2021. It's unclear to me how he as been in that role so long, but I guess it is nice to know the regime hasn't purged and replaced all the career people with unqualified loyalists.
