they keep in mind what the Republicans consider a "left-wing radical agenda" is affordable health-care because that's what the Democrats are fighting for in this struggle.
The Republicans cut billionaire taxes and took away your affordable health care and now are using the starving children of the impoverished as a weapon against Democrats.
Mike Johnson is so proud of his strategy, that he has told the Republican led Congress to hide until he says otherwise.
That's his leadership.
P.S. I originally wrote this in response to another post but I think it should have more exposure. Thank you for your indulgence.

(44,798 posts)Which they believe we have. Men in womens sports, sex operations, and killing babies. Are sure of this their brains have been shaped by propaganda. How do we disabuse them of all this? I dont know. Idea that we are trying to get affordable healthcare never enters their little brains. I bet most of the soybean farmers still vote Republicans after all this. I think the problem is they are so resentful of having women in charge of anything. They will do anything to avoid it.

(2,617 posts)Nobody says we have to abandon our other causes. What we need to do is stop answering in response to pointed questions and dictate our own agenda that is appealing to a greater number of voters.
When Republicans are asked questions they don't want to answer the response is to change the topic or claim ignorance of the facts.
Obfuscation is the agenda. Maybe the best thing to come out of this administration is the obvious difference between the parties.
Some non-voters and uncommitted "independents" can't seriously claim that both sides are the same. They are responsible for this debacle whether they admit it or not. The question is, will they be paralyzed with guilt or convince themselves it wasn't their fault.
We need to convince them it's in their best interest to vote Democrat no matter what.
As for what Republicans believe, if they can't see what this administration is truly about then they like this agenda. They are lost. It's not our job to appeal to them by changing our agenda. It is our leadership's job to better convey our message.

(1,141 posts)I am paying very close attention to school board, city commissioners, etc. Not national to be sure, but still very important to my community.
Continue working to support excellent state candidates for 2026. In my case, many gentle nudges to my friends who in the past have voted republican. Beginning to see glimmers of change. Trump and his cronies have certainly provided me with lots of material with which to work. I still have time...if we can survive.
