In the south, it's always been based on a strongly hierarchical society that hasn't changed all that much since the founding of the southern colonies. At its heart was and is economic exploitation. LBJ grew up immersed in it like I did and knew exactly what it was. From a conversation with Bill Moyers.. “I’ll tell you what’s at the bottom of it.
