JD Vance defends saying he wants his wife Usha to convert to Christianity

Vice President JD Vance on Friday defended comments about his faith and marriage after critics accused him of throwing his wife's Hindu religion "under a bus" during a Turning Point USA event earlier in the week.

Vance responded to a user on X who referenced the comments the vice president, who was raised Protestant but converted to Catholicism in 2019, on Wednesday. Vance spoke to the crowd about his faith and how it relates to his relationship with Usha Vance, who was raised Hindu.

This is how he sounds to me.

Condescending prick. I’m sure he pressures her to come to church with him for appearances’ sake.

Usha deserves better than JD — almost any woman does.

There were some nasty comments in an earlier thread, on the order of “She knew what he was when she married him. “

Really? Hasn’t anybody here besides me married the guy who pursued you in college and after awhile it turned out his core beliefs were nothing like you thought they were? That his hard luck story had truth in it, but the scars from it had twisted him inside. That the term papers you edited and had a hand in writing were — well hell. Many a woman has made that mistake, up and down the economic scale.

Given Usha’s CV as presented to us a number of years ago, she may have the majority of the actual brains and work ethic in the family. What she doesn’t have is what Peter Thiel was looking for when he set out to mold a Senator and future US President — an American-born white male who can claim to be Christian and is malleable enough and cynical enough to be whatever the billionaire patron wants him to be to seize power.

Salsipuedes, Usha. Get out while you can.

Vance is a coward for putting his wife in such an awful spot… blabbing about his marriage to the press to coerce her into something she doesn’t want to do. He’s a real shit.
