Tim Kaine wants to be assured that a deal is a deal.

Senator Kaine came very close to saying that Trump needs to guarantee he will not direct his servants in Congress to rescind legislative compromises once they are made.

I wish he had been more explicit about this.

It was an opportunity to point to the underlying cause of the government breakdown.

And to reinforce growing public opinion regarding who is responsible for it.

In any transaction with this Administration, make sure you get what you want up front and in full before you give them what they want.

They have shown themselves to be faithless and unreliable again and again.
