...since he's declared 60 Minutes interview edits to be a capital crime equal to terrorism, they're strictly prohibited from papering over word salad weakness, crossing the line from the exercise of judgment in reporting to deceitful, deceptive manipulation of news, as Trump's lawsuit against CBS for Kamala Harris' interview edits stated.
Right?

(62,134 posts)that way, she could have done a much stronger interview.
A lot of it looked like a Trump campaign commercial. Including his smirking as he felt he had to tell her he's "much better looking" than Mamdani. Whom he labeled a communist, with no pushback from her. Just as she didn't push back against his attacks on Democrats in Congress.
He was very happy with the interview.

(12,412 posts)after ICE beats up innocent kids or kids starve, is about as good as well get, even from some podcaster like David Parkman.
The media aint our problem.

(62,134 posts)Which CBS clearly would not allow because it would have displeased Trump.
It wasn't North Korea-style fawning, and I'm glad of that. But much of it was Trump lying through his teeth, smiling as he did so, with no pushback.

(62,134 posts)Editing to add one example:
I just went through that transcript and my god, Norah O'Donnell was steamrolled by Trump on nearly *every Q*.

(She didn't even bother getting into the Epstein files, survivors, & the role in the House being shut down).
Even when asked about the shutdown he just blamed Ds, no follow up.

If trump gained votes from that interview, Democrats have a bigger problem than any of us have accepted.

(26,507 posts)he doesn't sound like he has dementia and I can see his supporters believing every thing he says.
He's coming off fairly well - almost credible.
I feel he's lying thru his teeth. I just hope the press fact checks him.
But I've lost faith in our press. I think of them as a bunch of ambulance chasers that he puppets with some new outlandish claim on a per day basis.
It's hard to believe anything or anybody these days.
I'm demoralized and despondent.

(94,261 posts)...his fucking 'supporters' are a minority who are fast becoming paraiahs among a clear majority of Americans appalled by his performance in office.
This prevaricating and cruelty just confirms what most now believe, that Trump isn't interested in changing course on any of the things he's being reviled for in the polls.
He's still pushing tariffs?
Talking about China?
Talking about the stock market instead of groceries?
Railing against Joe Biden, the former president that just got a lifetime achievement award today from the Kennedy Institute, I believe?
This was a huge self-own that's going to repeatedly bite him in the ass.
Americans are not going to be voting in favor of ANY of the rationalizations he gave in that interview for the way he's fucked the nation in just 9 months.
NORAH O'DONNELL: But so you're saying your plan is to tell the Democrats to vote the-- to end the shutdown.
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: Correct, very simple.
NORAH O'DONNELL: And that you will put forward a healthcare plan?
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: No. We will work on fixing the bad healthcare that we have. Right now, we have terrible healthcare and too expensive for the people, not for the government, for the people.
NORAH O'DONNELL: But Mr. President, with all due respect--
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: The people are paying--
NORAH O'DONNELL: --you've been talking about fixing the healthcare insurance plan since 2015--
...good god.
