He was asked if he had an MRI. He answered in the affirmative, "I had an MRI." BUT he was moving his arm forward and backward when describing his MRI.
Problem is, you are stationary in MRI's. You move in and out of a CAT scan..
So what might physicians be looking for with a CAT scan?
Inquiring minds (or at least one inquiring mind) want to know.

(19,749 posts)I wouldn't trust that he had an MRI because he said he did, but I also wouldn't conclude he didn't because his hand gestures did not meet my expectations.

Technology:
CT Scan: Uses X-rays to create images.
MRI: Uses a strong magnetic field and radio waves to create images.

My physics advisor won a Nobel Physics prize for co-inventing the CAT scan. Computer Tomography.
FWIW, I have worked for or with several Nobel Prize winners. I'll just leave it at that.
I'm a lucky charm.

(6,568 posts)you move into the machine such that the target area is in the scanner and out afterwards.
MRIs are better at detecting brain damage (better soft tissue image resolution) - in Trump's case, my guess would be a brain MRI.

(18,878 posts)I do relish the thought of him enduring an MRI, if that's what he had.

(6,568 posts)Very claustrophobic. If I ever had to have another, I would probably ask for sedation which is probably what they did to Trump (if he was not already not sedated or catatonic).
