4. While it appears to be a coup to us, it is really a transfer

of power to a group that has worked since Roosevelt, to bring back Social Darwinism.
While we hear stories about how many went broke after the crash, it was mostly those new to the fast money of the Roaring 20's and the general slave labor populace of that time.
Remember, there was a cabal that supported the nazis who tried to overthrow the government. Luckily, Smedly Butler stood up.
We have to face that very few people want to be in charge of others and those who do, are subject to use that power for their own benefit.
The power of democracy is the goodness in most people. Even trumpers think their world view is good for our society.
It is only deep introspection that exposed the flaw in Social Darwinism. It was a liberal platform.
The Depression exposed the reality a society needs a support mechanism outside itself.
Many in this country have been raised with the idea of self sufficiency and now the hens have come home to roost. Where's the corn?
The group in power has entrenched itself with the Project 2025. We can slow that down with political power, but these people now have power they won't relinquish easily.
If enough people really examine the causes of their situation and wise up, maybe the trump factor will be shorter lived.
I worry very much about the modern economy taking further root for the oligarchy, who cannot stop feeding at the trough.
We are lucky we have strong legislators who are fighting back and members of the legal community very attached to the rule of law.
Just think, Jamaica got smacked as have we.
It will take some time to survey and rebuild.
You will need leadership and sound management against corruption. America, politically, has not emerged from the storm, yet.

It's a suicide pact that relies on honesty and morals, and has limited protections against total corruption

At one time, I wondered how it happened in Germany. I wonder no more.

7. No simple solution

but if you see something, say something….do something….write something…..post something….protest something….boycott something. Don’t make excuses, don’t procrastinate, don’t wait for someone else to act. Stand your ground, speak your mind, don’t waiver.

Donald Trump, the worst and most dangerous president in American history, MUST be stopped.

8. I have been asking the same question.

Why is there no back up plan?

So many thought Article 1 would provide the necessary (and normal) guardrails.

There are a lot of variables at play. The protests are having an effect. The courts are trying to do their job. I am not sure the Repugs in Congress will start doing their job.

Can we get to a free and fair election in 2026 and re-establish some balance of power.

Will the regime implode on itself?

Will the Epstein files or some other irrefutable evidence take away the power of the "leaders" of the coup? This is one of the wild cards I think might come into play.

I will keep doing my part to protect our Democracy. I haven't lost hope yet.

Is if two, three, four million folk, all dressed in orange, converged on Washington and filled the streets around the White House. Good television too.

I think we have a unique opportunity to create the model for successfully doing so. It will be a tough struggle, a hard fight. I've never backed down on such things, and am not about to now. The most important thing now is having everyone make a contribution, and I don't mean money. Exercising their Amendment 1 rights frequently in a manner more meaningful than complaining about things. Be active participants. And step it up to a higher level in the manner of Gandhi and King.

I will write something up about this. I think about in daily.

11. The people of Chicago, the ordinary citizens, are showing us how. Governors like Newsom, Pritzker, Walz are as well.

Signs of resistance are everywhere. The numbers of No Kings protestors in the streets in the 18th turn out to have been more than double the 7 million first reported.

The People, Yes. Citizens are fighting back by peaceful means everywhere. ICE thugs are becoming more violent, but can be chased off for now when enough neighbors show up.

Los Angeles, Chicago, Portland Oregon, and other cities are showing us how every day.

All you folks need to watch Rachel Maddow every Monday and during her specials. Do it!

Just one comment more: Trump, Miller, Hegseth and others are itching for an excuse to bring the military in and start spraying bullets into crowds. It is incredibly important that we remain within our First Amendment rights and protest non-violently. I know some people like to boast that “liberals own guns, too” — but believe me, the US military has more and bigger weapons than civilians ever will.

The longer we can hold off that kind of confrontation, the better. We ARE holding off the fascist coup.
