Naturally, if they lose their healthcare or food stamps, it is important to them.
But, in my opinion, they are more likely to vote for something that pisses them off or gets an emotional reaction than the so-called issues.
For example, I think more people would vote against tearing up the Rose Garden and tearing down the White House and partying with their billionaire friends than they would if their food stamps and healthcare were taken away.
Just my opinion.

(93,899 posts)But even regular party voters can be emotional based like the Racist Republicans that vote based on hating certain people. But Republicans appeal to them also so it's both.
The undecided, swing voter types mostly vote on emotion and "which way the wind blows" but they like to see themselves as unbiased moderate above party politics types .

(3,572 posts)generally find people vote for a given candidate because they like him and because they think hes going to win.
Voters are the fatal flaw of democracy.

(3,183 posts)I think many people on those programs who voted for republicans either thought it would never happen or it wouldn't happen to them despite be warned for decades. They took their benefits for granted and now how their going to react after losing them is going to get tested. I think there will be a mix some of them will never come to their senses, some will be mad at republicans, but still wont vote for Democrats, because the brainwashing is that effective and there will be some that truly see the light and vote for Democrats to try and get their benefits back.
