She actually looked human. She made a few good points; GOP leadership are weak men, release the Epstein files, Obamacare substitutes...Still support dump.
The dialog was constructive, but I keep waiting the insane MTG to return. At some point, I expect it will.

(18,060 posts)but she still just can't bring herself to criticize Been A Dick Donald, who is behind this whole shutdown to avoid the release of the Epstein files.

(12,412 posts)I think her wanting to open back up, pay ACA subsidies and foodstamps, etc., is probably more effective than what our leaders have done up til now. I'm only talking about those two issues at this time.
She'll be back to sponsoring lynchings in her district before long.

(18,060 posts)there's that old saying, the enemy of my enemy is my friend............for now.

(12,412 posts)She's still a right winger and I still support the Democratic candidate in the district-- Retired General and now farmer Shawn Harris -- but at least recently she is on the correct side of several important issues. That's good.
I used to work at some hospitals and medical facilities in her district a few days a week. The district is as white wing racist as you can get without slavery. So, Marjorie Crazy Greene, at least in the last few weeks, might actually positively influence some there, if just a few.
I get that next week she'll likely be encouraging a lynching or something.

(22,592 posts)Currently, there's Alyssa Farah Griffin (although MAGAts would write her off as a RINO. She voted for Harris in 2024).
But in the past they've had some real wingnut mental cases. Meghan McCain, for one.

(40,664 posts)Not to suggest she can't think up things on her own, but any GOP politician with hopes of higher office post-MAGA, has to pivot left. And not be afraid to start doing it now

(102,778 posts)Getting a lot of teevee primetime lately, since she started singing her current tune, and she's eating it up. Maybe she'll find a way to slither over to that world and leave the politics gig behind.

(1,559 posts)I'm not getting my hopes up. Less than a milligram of hope, but maybe some day she can become a useful idiot.
My guess is that if you scraped away the "cultural issues" like race, gender, etc. (pretty big issues!) she could see some logic around economics.

(4,656 posts)voters are pretty dependent on SNAP and the ACA. There are some wealthy landowners mixed in there, but a lot - maybe a majority - of her constituency is in the low-income bracket. I think shes just playing to them.

her Georgia constituency is middle class and aging...they rely on SNAP to feed their families and Obamacare for healthcare...if the MAGA congress cretins trash the ACA and SNAP, Marge will lose her job...

(6,820 posts)If by pretending to oppose her party and barking like a sealion accomplishes that, then so be it. She's shown her true colors both clearly enough as well as enough times.

(17,984 posts)her newfound reasonableness, if you can call it that. She made a comment about how some current events had negatively affected them, so maybe shes seeing how her idol Trumps policies affect everyday Americans.
I forgot where I saw this but can probably find it. It really gave me a double take that she sounded realistic at the time and probably because of her own kids.

Talking in a calm, sophisticated manner.
