(20,589 posts)Hes never going to zero, folks. For real. Its not going to happen. And 63 percent disapproval is BAD.
To paraphrase The Dude from Big Lebowski, just take the 4 dollars, man.

(17,520 posts)The glimpse into the political leanings in 4 different cities has been fascinating but depressing
1) Once in a well-off texas neighborhood, people hardly ever posted anything except local safety / emergencies
2) Once in a well-off chicago suburb, which was fairly liberal and like Eden before the fall, convos on Nextdoor people cared about each others kids, the local school, street safety, local parks, and teaching their kids to be kind in spite of being entitled. If you needed help with something simple, volunteers were immediate. Teenagers were polite. There were both progressives and fiscal conservatives living there, but not really any brainwashed people from the cult.
3) Once in a moderate-liberal North Carolina suburb, its got a mix of moderate or liberal locals, and newcomer tech immigrants educated but its also got rural MAGA locals. At least they seem to be aware of grammar, though.
4) The one in a Florida neighborhood is just shockingly different. Full of deep MAGA, and a very large majority are in poverty / scraping by. That version gives me a dose of reality into racism, desperation, and misinformation. OMG it is awful how they fall for every facebook meme, lie from dear leader, etc. On that one, i read that the dems are to blame for the shutdown; SNAP recipients are wasting money on manicures (there are fake AI Tik-Tok and Facebook videos showing that), and people trying to sell anything and everything to earn $5 from a pair of used shoes or an old lamp or anything.
In Florida neighborhood, there are lovely souls posting pictures of sunsets, flowers, dogs as well. And some nice, down-to-earth people. But the GOP misinformation machine has put a layer of radioactive dust over the whole thing. Sad.
I dont think it is an accident that NextDoor is ostensibly not supposed to have national politics. Its harder to keep people in silos if theres a chance they will meet each other in real life, or experience the same hurricanes. Lately the discussions have included the personal impact of the shutdown, and the rising cost of electricity.

(76,693 posts)...and appreciate your sentiment, I consider 37% to be worse than it looks.
I figure his floor is the 25% of the true cult.
This means only 12% of the other 75% approve, or only 16% of those that could be persuaded to vote against what he & his thugs want. Of course meaning that 84% of the non-hypnotized didapprove.

(76,693 posts)But, I think it's accurate.
I think we have 10% who care about nothing but low taxes & 15% who want others to suffer.
