Turtle Mitch should read some of today's Cheney pieces. His own obits will be similar, but probably worse.

It's probably because of Liz Cheney having been on the Jan 6th committee, or Cheney himself voting for Harris, but I don't think I've seen a single Republican "celebration" of him today.

I've seen MANY MENTIONS of his role in the Iraq war, and I just posted "Dick Cheney, Architect Of Autocracy, Is Dead, But His Spirit Lives On" in another thread.

All of this made me think of McConnell. The MAGAts don't like him because Trump's told them not to like him. And Democrats? Where should I begin? Yeah, the Garland thing was as bad as partisan politics gets, but personally, when he giddily referred to himself as "The Grim Reaper," any possible respect I would have had for him (regardless of the Republican thing) flew out the window.

Cheney's basically a SMALL SIDEBAR on most of the news aggregate sites. That's probably fitting. With everything we have going on right now, there's no time to light a candle for Evil Dick.

make up for even a tiny iota of his destruction to the Constitution and this country? For 10 seconds, he didn't deny that Jan 6 was an insurrection until he quickly came back "in line" with the rest of the liars.

Cheney was horrible during most of his political life, but there were some notable exceptions.
