Tonight was a 100% wipeout. Dems won every contested race, and by huge margins. Trump is figuring out if he gets his ass kicked on the shutdown too, the whole party may run away from him.

If Trump is even a little bit smart, he will direct Mikey and Thune to settle for the extension of the ACA supports with the face-saving that the Dems have offered (phasing out for the top 5% of earners.

BUT ... with these results. maybe the Dems should be demanding more. I mean, when they held out for the ACA supports, they were conceding about 95% of the big ugly bill. Maybe Dems should be demanding that inspectors general be put back in place with total autonomy. Maybe Dems should be demanding that the settlement include legislation making Trump's tariffs illegal beyond any doubt. Maybe the Dems should be demanding that the full IRS budget be restored.
