(8,251 posts)I think there are many people that want to know that you will fight for them. Old school Dems need to embrace him. I think he will energize the base and engage non voters. I am glad Obama extended the olive branch.
I am hearing excuses that Schumer has not embraced him out of fear of not being able to raise money from the big donors. Well see that is part of our problem, the big donors have too much say so.
That depresses the vote. People are tired of the status quo.

(29,929 posts)According to polls his policies are even popular with Republicans when you poll by his policy proposals. I think he would have a more difficult time winning in other places based on his identity but I think voters are smart enough to look past whether he is a Muslim or a Democratic Socialist and support the candidate based on their policy proposals. Even Bernie Sanders and AOC can draw large crowds in rural and swing districts.
