"The left ran the table tonight. They won everywhere there was a race." freeper tears

Even in my 2:1 red county the “explusion” aka “NO” vote failed 45:55.

Politics follows Newton’s Third Law of Motion. Nationally and statewide tonight was the “equal and opposite reaction” to the Trumpslide.

I hope that the midterms prove to be the equal and opposite reaction to tonight’s debacle.

to make sure this bullshit keeps going.

Turnout, in other words. The population is pretty evenly split between 'cooperators' (us) and 'competitors' (them), because our evolutionary heritage shaped the population distribution this way. We are meant to be in this conflict, our two groups. Always have been, always will be when a population is looked at in large, mostly randomly assembled groups. And we actually need each other, even if both sides are loath to admit it A big reason the USA has been such a successful country for so many years is that we have BALANCE between our opposing viewpoints. Neither side ever "takes over" here, thanks to the Founders setting up a pretty damn solid system that understood the need to balance these aspects of our nature, even if they supposed they came from some man in the sky instead of what really happened lol.

In a country were voting is completely optional, the 'side of the coin' that wins is dictated by which group can be arsed to actually vote. They COULD have won all of it, its not like they don't have enough people/votes. But we won because more of us cared about who won than did on their side.

That do little to address the fastest growing segment of the electorate, unaffiliated/independent registrations.

in the population, not a 50/50 split. I simplified, as a full espousal was not in scope for the overall, simple point

As the parties have become a bit more polarized towards the two extreme end of the spectrum (MUCH more true of their side, esp. in the thrall of an authoritarian leader, like now), this means there will be more and more who simply say neither party really represents them. The 'middle' is probably the biggest group overall.

And obvious lies about everything from tariffs to elections, healthcare, social security and the economy.
Plus all the fake gold ornaments, the enormous ballroom, ripping down the east wing while throwing indulgent Gatsby galas.
And now he wants to build a fucking arch in his own honor?

People have had quite enough of Trump’s shit… and anyone who has the slightest whiff of Trump.

What a great night and an interruption to the constant doom the last year has been.

What last night proved is that Dems are a good investment for 2026. We don't live in a dictatorship yet and activists and donors are going to be energized to make sure we don't get there in 2026.

I think last night will end the shutdown as the right will pull back some from the hardline. And I think it will start to show some cracks in the Trump coalition as these guys know they're going to be voted out in 12 months.

I am still just enjoying the sweep, really needed something good that allows all good Americans a chance to breath and have some hope that the democracy can be saved.
