OH-GOV: New polls appear to show Ohio governor's race tightening

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Two new polls indicate that the race for Ohio governor could be tightening.

In both polls, which were released within weeks of one another, former Ohio Department of Health Director Amy Acton was found to be statistically tied with businessman Vivek Ramaswamy in the race.

At the moment, Acton remains the frontrunner for the Democratic Party's nomination. Meanwhile, Ramaswamy remains the heavy favorite to win the Republican nomination, having recently picked up President Trump's endorsement.

In a head-to-head polling matchup between the two candidates that was released by Bowling Green University on Oct. 17, 50% of respondents said that they would vote for Ramaswamy, while 47% of respondents said that they would vote for Acton. The results are within the poll's margin of error

because the racist Republicans will just think about not wanting too many of "those people" in power.

I think Democrats have a good chance of winning there mostly because of right wing racism.

Indicates what the real GOP base thinks of these guys. They’re tokens, and nothing more.

Vivek has played for years on cultural superiority of some people, railing against DEI and finding it useful to dismiss racism and white supremacy. Worse yet, he simply compared Ayanna Pressly to a grand wizard of the KKK.

I have no sympathy for this guy whatsoever. He is the worst of the worst. Democrats need to especially go after his tweets attacking American culture and citizens as lazy and unqualified for certain jobs. He’s a grifter a con artist. He’s basically just a younger, slicker and better spoken coherent brown skin version of Trump. He needs to be utterly humiliated and destroyed.

The reason why Vivek is even on the ballot here has everything to do with Elon Musk wanting him out of his hair within DOGE, and Trump, at least at that point, wanting to keep Musk happy. Ohio Republicans were, of course, all too eager to please Trump, and the rest is history.

He's a horrible, unlikeable candidate, and while that by itself would normally not be a problem for the MAGA GOP base, there's no getting around his skin color and Hindu faith with them. Especially with the Christian Nationalists/Evangelicals. They aren't going to tolerate or support a gubernatorial candidate who doesn't worship Jeebus.

Amy Acton (née Stearns; born 14 Feb 1966)[1] is a physician and researcher who worked at the Columbus Foundation before Republican Governor Mike DeWine appointed her the director of Ohio Department of Health (2019–2020).[2] She led Ohio’s COVID-19 pandemic response and accompanied Governor DeWine during his daily afternoon press conferences in the spring of 2020. She resigned on June 11, 2020 and returned to work for the Columbus Foundation up until announcing her candidacy for the 2026 Ohio gubernatorial election. [3]

The only thing that is keeping him from bottoming out in that race is the R by his name in stupidly red Ohio.

Maybe the voters of Ohio will finally wake up, especially with a great candidate like Dr. Acton.
