And there are real consequences of the shutdown. It's a much tougher decision either way for people who want a functional government and are responsible for it than those of us who aren't making any sacrifices for the shutdown. How long are you willing to let government employees not get paid to hold out for your preferred position? What if Republicans hold out until after the ACA open enrollment ends and the current rates are locked in?
