Republicans Pitch Alternative to ACA Extension to End Government Shutdown

A proposal by GOP senators to send money directly to consumers’ health accounts rather than to insurance companies showed signs of breaking a stalemate on negotiations

Wall Street Journal

I've no idea how this would 'work' but if the protections and subsidies remain in place, that's what's important.

It seems much more like a concept than a plan.

a new requirement to open health savings accounts. It's ridiculous unless folks have an option to continue with the current option.

In typical trump scheme fashion, it would be a disaster. Don’t trust republicans with your money or your health, or your daughter, or your unlocked vehicle, or your shopping cart, or your future.

Education, and so-on.

To be filled from their below living wage jobs.

They only pull this crap so they can blame the victims, “Well, you should have had a health savings account like we told you.”

And those who have a need to use funds in any savings account for emergencies etc. could effectively lose their coverage.

The ACA protections would have to remain in place, regardless of the pretense involved in making a deal.

That is how corporations work now. The corporate suck ups will crow “you won’t be denied coverage for preexisting conditions”. But Jesus won’t they skin you to the bone.

We'll be back to where we started from before you know it. Unaffordable policies, high co-pays, high deductibles and pre-existing conditions not covered.

We will have to see what comes of any deal and vote for more Democrats if we don't care to be in a position to make deals with the devil.
