Unofficial Tally as of 7:15 PM Yea 59 Nay 40. Thune clearly got his 8 Democratic Yeas

Thune reportedly wanted eight yes Democratic votes

With a total of 40 Nays
38 of 45 Democrats
Bernie
Rand Paul

I am guessing the hold out Republican vote is Rand Paul, who said he would drag out the vote until the agriculture part of the minibus gave him what he wants on hemp.

Missing vote is Cornyn

Vote on cloture, cutting off debate. Not a guarantee the bill will pass, just telling people to STFU and vote. nt eppur_se_muova Nov 2025 #4
Yep. Trumpublicans could start losing their minds over whatever concessions to Dems were made in the minibus package. pat_k Nov 2025 #7
Fingers crossed. If Dems don't filibuster, it sounds like they could still lose. nt eppur_se_muova Nov 2025 #9

With Rand the 40 must be:
38 of 47 45 Dems
Rand Paul
Bernie Sanders

I don't know why, but that feels a lot worse than the difference of one vote should.

There are 53 Republicans. Rand voted No. Counting Cornyn, 52 will vote Yes. 8 Dems will also vote Yes. That's the 60.

It was unclear to me if Thune just wanted promises of eight Democratic yes on cloture only, or on the minibus package, extension to Jan 30, and whatever other amendments are in his "deal."

In any case, there is no guarantee he'll hold together the Senate Republican conference.

To break a filibuster and get out of closure, 60 is needed. Once it's broken, the next vote will take 50 votes to pass.

51 voted Yes. One is on his way (John Cornyn) and will vote Yes. Rand Paul voted No. 8 Democrats voted Yes. That's the 60.
