All you need is a media-savvy a-hole and a compliant media willing to follow and quote said a-hole at every turn, and voila!...Insto-presto, microwavable, Made in America, Cult of Personality. Whatever alleged outrage du jour the populist demagogue is using to rally the hooples around is almost negligible. The important thing is the demagogue him/herself, and the emotions they stir.

So no, sadly, it will not simply cave in and rot away into well-deserved oblivion. The genie is already out of the bottle. Sooner or later, some other lying scumbag will come along and pick up where Trump left off.
