I endorse Senator Chris Murphy

1. I also could support Chris Van Hollen, Jeff Merkley, or Sheldon Whitehouse. Any of the 4 would be a big upgrade IMHO.

4. i think Chris van Hollen has the skill sets.

He has moxie. He is capable of creative thinking.

The thing we don't know is - do the Dems in the Senate feel like he can keep them organized. Can he raise money?

Sheldon Whitehouse does not seem interested - he was just on Lawrence.

Chris Murphy is one of my two favorite Senators - I see him being a very viable candidate for 2028. But one of the reasons I am impressed by him is that he has been focused on the need to save Democracy. If he feels he can (hopefully) save Democracy by leading in the Senate, then I am enthusiastic.

11. Chris Van Hollen

is one of my MD Senators!

I absolutely LOVE him! He has been fighting on the frontlines, especially with the federal court cases in MD, and sending informative newsletters to his constituents, many of whom have been directly and adversely affected by the politices of BLOATUS. He has also been very visible in fighting for immigrants' rights, especially in the case of Abrego-Garcia.

I have shared his newsletters on my social media. He's a great guy and I am fortunate to have him as a Senator!

But of those, Van Hollen, and Murphy, Murphy is the only one who is more than 10 years younger than Schumer. That doesn't bother me, but there are people who are boing to be bothered by it.

I was thinking of him as a strong candidate for 2028.

One of the reasons I am impressed by him is that he has been focused on the need to save Democracy. He says if we don't save Democracy, we will never have free and fair elections. I agree.

He is smart and informative and serious. He is not just another politician reciting formulaic talking points.

We need them out there communicating. It is a different skill than herding Democratic cats.

The problem is, you need someone who (1) wants the job, and (2) would get the support of the conference.

I think there are actually very, very, very few 1s.

I hope Chuck Schumer is able to put Democracy before his ego. He has never been the leader for this moment.
