(88 posts)I believe everyone could use a little extra joy this year, so I am putting my large tree up before Thanksgiving too. I have a little tree decorated with fall ornaments on my living room coffee table. My fiber optic tree is midsize, and I keep that up until after Easter, changing ornaments for the season, New Years, Valentines Day, St. Patrick's Day and Easter. Do whatever brings you happiness.

(171,704 posts)at first I thought, jeez, isn't that a bit early? But then as I appreciated it I thought, I NEED THIS, THIS YEAR. Yes indeed. Carry on!

(16,510 posts)My tree went up last week, and I'll spend the next few weeks rearranging the ornaments. In times of darkness, light is called for. The colorful and happy decorations are a most appropriate response to the anti-Christmas currently squatting in what's left of our White House. Next week the Christmas vinyls take the stage. Bingle jells!

(36,912 posts)i love the lights and they make wonderful night lights in the evening hours
my trees:
1. 3 ft silver fiber optic on the piano. when the fiber optic lites finally burned out i started wrapping a string of lights on it. i've had it for at least 20 years
2. 3 ft green traditional, just add a string of lights (in office)
3. 4 ft rope lite spiral indoor/outdoor tree that lives in the bedroom
4. 2 ft ornament tree (no lites--just pretty) that sits on a video cabinet in living room. (got it at michael's or target last year)
it isn't that i love xmas trees and xmas as much as i love the lights. i also have a string of lights around the big bookcase in living room and a string of lights wrapped around my headboard.
when i had my house there was always a string of lights around one of the kitchen windows and another around a doorway in the dining room.
i called them fairy lights
i also keep a lot of halloween (witchy/ghostie/vintage) up year round. i love autumn & winter. and snow! lol
putting up a big tree in early november? why not?
i haven't had a big tree since i moved to condoland nearly a decade ago (no place to store it inside and didn't have the stamina to be carrying it down steps to a detached garage)
enjoy the warm feelings, the love, the memories, and happiness your holiday tree brings to you.

(19,702 posts)at this point, we need to do the things that bring us joy.
There is FAR too little joy in the world these days.
