Democrats more energized than Republicans ahead of midterms: Survey

Democrats are more energized to vote in next year’s midterm elections, according to a new survey.

A Reuters/Ipsos survey released Wednesday found that 44 percent of registered voters who identify as Democrats say they are “very enthusiastic” about voting in the next election cycle, compared with 26 percent of Republican voters.

Respondents were also asked to measure their zeal for the upcoming election, with 79 percent of Democrats stating they’d regret missing out on casting a ballot and 68 percent of Republicans sharing the same response.

The enthusiasm comes after Democrats won elections in Virginia, New Jersey and New York City last week, sparking new hope for the party after a presidential loss last year.
