George Conway, a prominent lawyer and critic of President Donald Trump, is actively considering running for Congress from New York City, a source familiar with the matter tells CNN.
An independent, Conway may enter the Democratic primary race for New Yorks 12th Congressional District, a Manhattan-based seat currently held by Rep. Jerry Nadler. Nadler recently announced that he would not run for reelection.
The district covers much of Manhattans east and west sides and will be the subject of a hotly contested primary. Jack Schlossberg, former President John F. Kennedys grandson, entered the race this week.
Conway was a longtime fixture in conservative legal circles and was previously married to Kellyanne Conway, who managed Trumps first presidential campaign and went on to serve in the White House. Conway fell out with Trump and became one of the presidents most strident critics.

(23,714 posts)We need Democrats that are serious about delivering on the promises of our party and fighting drumpf with everything they have, not just people that are good at stirring up clocks on social media.

(13,371 posts)At this point, if a Pro-Impeachment/Removal Republican were running for the U.S. Senate or House in a deep red state or district, I'd send them a few bucks. I don't really give a shit what their other votes may be. We must be working to build Democratic state and country parties in those places, but in the meantime, stopping the bleeding ASAP is job one.

(6,820 posts)He's playing an angle, my guess is he's going after the Poisoned Pivot position for greater leverage in the next cycle and a different district. Then he may try a serious play for a seat.
