I mentioned this a while back, that I was going to donate my skills and hoo boy, did I. I was on zucchini-slicing duty, and given that we were all in teams of 2 filling the same size containers, by my math I'm five times faster than a civilian at slicing vegetables
In all seriousness, it was the most satisfying thing I've done in a very long time and I've already booked the same shift as far out as I can.

Places like soup kitchens and food shelves are always looking for volunteers.

I doubt I have the energy to donate it in such a large measure as you have, but I did cook a meal for a friend in the hospital today and I frequently hold parties for Dem events and other fun things at my house. Building community with food (and dance!) is truly a sweet and satisfying endeavor. Thank you for all you do!

(9,533 posts)I enjoy cooking. I fancy I'm pretty decent for a home cook. But goddam am I slow at slicing.
A friend was a professional cook before going back to school and whenever we cook together, dude just humiliates me in the veggie slicing department! It's embarrassing!
Thank you fo donating your skills!

(4,639 posts)Had to stop in June for a hip replacement, so no more delivery duty for me, but I will go back soon to pack boxes or whatever they need done.
For the record, of all the households I delivered to (7-9 every week), I never saw any that I would say weren't "deserving" of help. They were elderly, disabled, or very much in need. The need out there is HUGE!
