(24,205 posts)I don't watch Maher anymore as he's an out of touch liberal hating transphobe. But Galloway is really someone who needs a bigger audience.

(102,780 posts)Of Galloway. I think he's a misogynist and manages to disguise it to some.

(27 posts)Our boys are going through a crisis right now, as theyre being bombarded by the most toxic people imaginable on social media like Tate, Fuentes, Rogan, et al. And their warped ideas are screwing our young guys up badly.
Im fond of Galloway and especially Fareed. Barro, eh, salright.

Probably never going to convince me that he's not.

(9,535 posts)I do think he's drunk the "masculinity crisis" kool-aid a bit much, but I heard him speak on the subject recently and he made it clear that some of the issue is that men, for the first time, are having to deal with some issue that women have had to deal with for thousands of years. His position is not that feminism has to dialed back, but that out work on sexual and gender politics has to recognize that constructions of masculinity are collapsing and it's becoming a broader social issue. He's not wrong about that. I do disagree with him on some proposed approaches, but he's not wrong about that.

(5,220 posts)I think that it's good regarding points that he's making. There are some real issues.
And of course women and minorities have long had serious challenges and more, many stemming from the behavior of white men.
That can't be lost, but I do think that generally speaking his points are make young men better. It seems clear that increased isolation, while living in toxic online spaces or at best not living a real life gaining real experience and social skills is a serious problem.

That's what we are supposed to say, right?

(32,354 posts)And earlier General Discussion post (8:13 this morning) about Maher's show tonight says his guests are Megyn Kelly, Greg Gutfeld, and John Fetterman. What's going on?

(32,354 posts)I'm certainly not the only one who took that earlier thread seriously. Who wouldn't think Maher would jump at the chance to feature Megyn Kelly and Greg Gutfeld on his show---particularly after the events of this week? And I pissed away my 32,000th DU post in the process.
Oh, well. Fuck Bill Maher.

(52,131 posts)He cannot even create his own format. Imitates the format but without the kitty at the bottom. I dont think that the administration should allow it and you should not tolerate it.
And I hope you and the others use protection.

(2,956 posts)It was pointed out to you several weeks ago by none other than Celerity that a certain reskinner's OP is 'satire'.

(255,525 posts)And you're not the only one who's been confused by this inaccurate information. This poster comes up with the most offensive guests he can think of, then makes fun of them. I like some guests, others not so much, but I only list them and who they are, it's up to DUers whether they choose to watch.

(32,354 posts)I walked away from Maher, years ago, and my life is the better for it. The only way I keep track of the asshole is by way of info posted on DU, so I appreciate your efforts.

(56,108 posts)Lots of talk about inventions that made things better and worse at the same time and how the powers that be/were made use of them. It's not a long read, IMO.
