It is so apparent to me what Trump is trying to do. By ordering an investigation by DOJ of Clinton et al. he is causing an investigation to be opened and during investigations it has always been DOJ policy not to release information to the public for any reason. It doesn't matter who or what DOJ investigates or what they find or don't find as long as there is an "open investigation".
This way, even if Congress votes by a veto proof majority for DOJ to release the files there is a legal pretext for Trump to veto the bill and for DOJ to refuse to obey it. It also gives Congress some cover for refusing to vote to release the files. Obviously, this was the result of a desperation scrum by Trump's lawyers.
On edit: The question I have is why doesn't the press see this obvious tactic for what it is, a bullshit scheme?

Flipping Congress to Democratic Party control will become an inevitability.
I'm confident that this does not and should not depend on Trump's Epstein connection.
Trump will continue to piss off voters in all his reprehensibly Trumpian ways.
Let no Republican run unopposed.

In one of my posts before this dump of 20,000+ documents came out, I said I didn't think he'd become enough of a liability to the shadowy powers that are really running our government. Well, now he has. So how will this play out?

(10,833 posts)while the "investigation" was pending. She formally closed the Epstein case in May or June, way after she said the files were on her desk and waiting to be reviewed and the WH and DOJ made their fake showing of the "files" in their nice white binders (which turned out to be info previously made public).
But apparently this is the best scheme Trump's brilliant legal talent has been able to come up with (so far).

(5,866 posts)Pam Bondi has appointed a prosecutor to look into the Dems who interacted w/ Epstein, as instructed by the grifter. I'm not sure which of them specifically - Clinton, Reid Hoffmann?
You will probably be able to find the segment online, on MSNBC or on YouTube.
