Why Are We Seeing So Many Misdirected Arrests by ICE?

It's simple. ICE want's nothing to do with the "worst of the worst." It has no interest in arresting, say, organized drug traffickers or gang members. That's dangerous AF. A guy could get hurt, you know, or even worse. Here's how that works and keeps the ICE agents safe.

They go out and find miscellaneous brown people and take them down in public places. Take them down hard. Make it look like they might have been dangerous. Women with children. Old men. Guys at Home Depot standing around waiting for someone to hire them for a few hours. People shopping at Walmart or working in ethnic restaurants. They're everywhere. Schools, daycares, churches. There are people who speak foreign languages or have strong accents.

Best of all, they don't have any papers with them. Either that or they're born in the USA and have always been citizens. But they can't prove it on demand, so sweep 'em up, count them, and send them off to some distant detention center for a while. Maybe even ship them out of the country. If they do have papers, take them from them. You can dump those off later.

The point is the numbers. How many can they arrest and detain? Who knows?...they could be, you know, "criminal aliens." Better detain them, just in case.

Oh, yeah, the brave ICE agents worry about being doxxed, so everyone masks up and makes sure there are no name tags or anything like that. Nobody knows you you are, so you never have to show up in court or anything. After all, they might discover your warrants. Can't have that. You're a secret agent, dude. Exciting, isn't it?

Hunt them down. Take them down. Detain them. Ship them out. That's the job of the ICE agent. They let you do it!

It's all a secret. There are no lists of names. There are no badges. There are no IDs. Just get out there and detain someone!

is palpable. There is a huge amount of danger in this. Just the anonymity of those ICE agents is completely against the Constitution. How can you confront an accuser if you don't know who the accuser is. That's the point here. We don't know who those ICE agents are, so we have no recourse against them.

You CAN confront an assailant if you don’t know who that assailant is—especially if you don’t know who that assailant is. If a bunch of armed masked thugs were to come after me and/or my family, I would hope to be in the presence of armed protection, police or private, who would not hesitate to use force to protect me and/or my family. If the assailants are armed and refuse to disarm and show ID, I would assume organized crime, and never advocate reticence in fighting back.

Pretty drastic, huh? I’m just not interested in hearing about how some of these lethal gorillas went too far some day and in their over-eager zeal choked some Latina grandmother to death because she couldn’t pull out her ID in time.

This really has to end sooner rather than later, because the laws governing self-defense leave plenty of room for it to end badly.

are some of the least able to confront anyone. And there's the rub. At the age of 80, I have aged out of being able to physically confront anyone.

Being mostly (though not exclusively) in Europe, that usually means the bad guys are organized crime, usually Serbs, Albanians, Romanians, i.e. Balkan in origin. If the situation warrants, which on rare occasions it still does, we work usually with two teams—one a mobile special brigade of Berlin police, and the other a team of ex Israeli military mixed with members of a Dutch anti-terror squad as well as a few ex-Balkan security guys who lend native language fluency (for surveillance as well as interrogation).

Obviously, it’s a team we only put together on very rare occasions, although other entities know them, respect them, and avail themselves of their services. I was once in on a bust of some bad guys because I could ID them. The head bad guy claimed “nix verstehen,” but when we searched him, he had an obviously phony German passport as an ID. So, “Herr Becker,” born in Essen, speaks no German, eh? When the Croatian-speaking interrogator got to him, he suddenly remembered he understood German before he was carted off.

We once nailed a Serb in the act of trying to rob a colleague from Bremen. Not wanting to let go of the stolen property, he tried twisting and turning, hoping the security guy would give up. He didn’t and the thief ended up breaking a finger, which is very painful. He started yelling about “brutality,” even though the injury was all his doing. The local cops were minimally sympathetic.

Recently, since the first wave of Covid, there have been less public occasions for organized robberies of people I work with, and the larceny “biz” seems to have fallen on hard times. No fatalities, but the Balkan guys (we caught some, so we know where they are from) are being more brazen about using firearms—a risky prospect in Germany. German law is extremely lenient where robbery is concerned UNLESS a firearm is involved. THAT carries an automatic minimum five year sentence. I wish the same were true for ICE kidnappers. If they commit an illegal kidnapping while armed, every one of them should get an automatic five year prison sentence. See how eager they are to fill their quotas under THOSE conditions!

and even if we did, ICE would just dismiss the papers as 'possible forgeries'. There have been reports of people showing ICE agents their REAL ID driver's licenses or state IDs having that form or identification dismissed by ICE as not being proof. WTF? What is the point of getting REAL ID if bounty hunters can disregard it all because someone is brown, speaks with an accent, or is a person who is easily, AND SAFELY taken down by thugs who get bonuses for a body count?

Actual gang activity? I have yet to see any reports of ICE hitting known gang hang-outs. Any local cop could advise ICE thugs where to look for actual foreign gang members.
