Saturday Literary Allusion by PCIntern:

Yes, yes, I know this is obscure but bear with me while I ramble for a moment.

In the wonderful novel The Mysterious Island by Jules Verne, the prisoners of war held by the Confederates in Richmond, Virginia, commandeer a balloon and escape during a frightful storm. The winds of the storm blow them across the United States and to the South Pacific. As they leave the torrential rain and winds, they noticed that they are slowly descending towards the waters of the ocean and noticed also that there is a tear in the balloon and is leaking what they used to call the “precious fluid” which kept it and them suspended for days.

Afeared for their lives, but noticing that in the distance there is a landmass toward which they are floating, and only if they can make it! They start throwing everything overboard, including gold bullion, supplies, and even the contents of their pockets, finally getting the brilliant idea of climbing up into the ropes and cutting loose the basket which held them. Freed from this weight, the balloon bounced up for a short while, long enough for them to reach the land where they are now castaways.

In much the same way, the Trump balloon has had a small defect which has begun finally to approach the ocean of truth. During this time Trump and his minions will be throwing everything out in order to extend their stay but inexorably and inevitably this balloon of hate, of racism, of ignorance will fall into the ocean of history. The process has begun and it is irreversible. And the so-called cognoscenti of the Right know it, thus the defections and threatened defections by many others. And what’s more, there may be no island to save them, Epstein’s Island is closed for business.

If in fact, they were responsible for his demise which I am certain the Epstein family believes, then the victim himself has risen from the grave, like Melville’s Ahab, except rather than being fastened to the white whale by harpoon cables, it is in the form of emails, to beckon three times for all to follow. It is irony writ large and great.

Next post: a Swiftian hypothesis which will make conspiracy theorists among us nod, perhaps, and cynics yell epithets at the computer screen. I bet you cannot wait!!😀

He’d toss Dim Jr, Ewreck, Barren, Trepanny, even beloved Iblanka without a second thought.

But even even all the hot air and unmentionable gasses he generates in a day wouldn’t be enough to keep from crashing.

So, he’d call his friends who’ve supported him all these years: Semion Mogilevich and Bill Barr, along with their stooge, Vlad Putin.

Hope to be there when his shitshow comes crashing down because there’s gonna be a big celebration.

This is a very apt literary allusion.

And you know I cannot wait for your hypothesis!
